VOLUNTEER JUVENILE RETENTION SPECIALIST

Throughout the country, the issue of juvenile/teen violence and at-risk behavior has become an issue of great concern. Volunteering to mentor juveniles, helping them advance educational interest can be an effective and comprehensive investment to enhancing the success of our juvenile futures. The JRS are individuals who desire helping juvenile's succeed.

I.C.C. Juvenile Retention Specialist: JRO specialist are everyday people – teachers, accountants, health care executive professionals, active military, retirees, and stay-at-home parents. Our specialist are committed to making a difference for juveniles who might otherwise be dealing with the challenges of life growth. They are highly trained and certified to guide juveniles through life purpose and become productive in society. 

 

There are (3) three volunteer opportunities for our JRO specialist this upcoming school year.

  • S.E.A.L. Teams: JRS mentor elementary, middle, and high school students and provide insights into careers, personal development, and business. Mentor will meet a group of 2 to10 juveniles each month from Aug 2023 to May 2024.

  • Teen to Executive: JRS mentors will provide insights into what it is like working in a career field and share their career journeys with juveniles. This is a monthly volunteer opportunity.

  • Juvenile Crisis Intervention: JRS conduct 1-on-1 mentoring to provide life development and discuss goal setting. This is a once per week 1 hour session.

JRS MENTOR REQUIREMENTS:

Must be 21 years of age or older, effective communicator, must successfully complete certification training provided by our office. ​Be able to make a minimum commitment to mentoring teens (An average of 8 hours per month). Successfully pass screening and background check requirements.

 

Volunteer Specialist must be able to work with law enforcement, city or county agencies, school districts, the business community, parents, and of course the juvenile they are assigned to mentor. 

Once your application is received, you will be contacted within one business week of the application submission date by a JRO staff, and if your application is accepted. You will receive a formal invitation to join our next round of JRS Volunteer Pre-Service Training.
